Vidushi Deepa Bhat, BE (E&E), MCA(IGNOU), MFA(Bharatanatyam) is an exceptional and highly accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher and choreographer. She began her formal training in dance under the able guidance of Guru Vandya Shrinath of Bhramara School of Performing Arts. She is now pursuing her glorious journey in Bharatanatyam, following the Kalakshetra style at Kalakshiti, Bangalore under the tutelage of Guru Dr. M R Krishnamurthy, an alumnus of Kalakshetra, Chennai. Professionally, she has several prestigious solo stage performances to cherish and group performances that flourish. Her dissertation titled “Kannada Bhavageethe and its Adaptation to Dance” for the MFA course in Kalai Kaveri College of Fine Arts, affiliated to Bharatidasan University has been a remarkable feat in her dancing profession. She has choreographed several dance ballets like Dances of India, Seeta Kalyana, Vasudaiva Kutumbakam, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, Daksha Yagna, Girija Kalyana, Modalondipe Ninage Gananatha, Shri Ramayanam, Shiva navarasa Lasya, Devi shakti, Navavidha Bhakthi, Srinivasa Kalyana among many others and also “Keechaka”, a dance drama. Her choreographies have been presented and acclaimed in several prestigious stages like Mantralaya Aradhana Mahotsava, Alva’s Nudisiri, Delhi Kannada Sangha, Shravanabelagola, Nada Neeranjana at Tirupati, Natyanjali at Tanjavur to name a few. Recognizing her accomplishments in Bharatanatyam, she has been awarded many honours and awards like Ms. Elegance in Kreative - 2003, Aryabhatta – 2003, Karnataka Kala Vikasasri – 2004, Best citizen award – 2008, Natyapriya – 2017, Natyakala Praveene - 2019, Srusti Kala Ratna- 2019 etc. She has been teaching this divine art form in her own school, Nrithya Kuteera since 2004. Many students of Nrithya Kuteera have completed Gandharva exams, Ravindra Bharati University exams and state level exams conducted by KSEEB with high scores. She has worked as an examiner in KSEEB and presently working at Deccan international school as dance teacher. Through performing and teaching, Deepa Bhat wants to spread the beauty and flavour of this divine art to the youngsters and art lovers.

Bharatanatyam is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in the state of Tamil Nadu.It is one of eight forms of dance recognized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and it expresses South Indian religious themes and spiritual ideas, particularly of Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Shaktism.
